Thank you for visiting our virtual stand at the IPG Autumn Conference.

Nielsen Book provides a range of services to the book industry internationally, aiding the discovery and purchase, distribution and sales measurement of books. We have been supporting the book industry since 1858 and have worked closely with the IPG and it’s members for many years.

Below we have outlined some of our current initiatives which we think might be of interest, please feel free to get in touch if you want to know more.

While we all continue to adjust to new ways of working in the current climate we recognise that the retail environment has changed significantly during 2020. In a time where we have seen so many book purchases move online, and pressure on high street stores to produce a very carefully curated selection of titles for their customer base, the need for high quality metadata is more important than ever.

Our Publisher Health Check report will provide an overview on the quality of the data Nielsen Book holds for your titles. We will provide you with statistics around your data completeness and make recommendations on how you can improve your title listings ensuring all your metadata elements are complete and up-to-date.

According to Nielsen Book’s latest research titles meeting the BIC basic requirements enjoy double the average sales of books that don’t meet that standard.

We are offering IPG Members a 15% discount off our Publisher Health Check, simply sign up before 31 December 2020.

Silver Health Check

For non-subscribing publishers who provide us with basic listing information.

Gold Health Check

For publishers who subscribe to our Enhanced Service and provide us with descriptive content.

Both reports will feed back on the elements you have listed with us and will provide guidance on how to improve your listings. The feedback will be based on the full list of your titles. For more information please email: sales.book@nielsen.com

We will shortly be publishing our latest report: The Importance of Metadata for Discoverability and Sales. Key findings include the fact that books with five descriptive data elements on average experience sales three times higher than those with no descriptive data elements. The five main descriptive elements are keywords, short description, long description, author biography and reviews.

Our Nielsen BookData Enhanced Service enables you to add, where appropriate, these descriptive elements and our Editorial Team will manage your information, ensuring accuracy, consistency, timeliness and completeness of your records, giving your titles the competitive edge when viewed by book-buyers around the world.

The Enhanced Service is an annual subscription based on the number of titles you publish and a minimum charge applies.
